Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs trial date set with rapper having to spend lot longer incarcerated

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is scheduled to appear in court on May 5, 2025, following his arrest.
The trial date was agreed upon by both defense attorneys and the judge, as part of a joint discovery status update. The defense emphasized Diddy’s “right to a speedy trial.”
Prosecutors have hinted at potential additional charges for the rapper, who currently faces conspiracy racketeering, sex trafficking, and transportation to engage in prostitution charges.
As the grand jury deliberates over more charges, another sex worker allegedly linked to Diddy has reportedly cooperated with authorities.
In the meantime, prosecutors are preparing their case against the music mogul, examining various forms of evidence, including digital material amounting to several terabytes.
The prosecution team informed the defense that they are in the process of reviewing potential evidence, stating: “The Government informed the defense that it expected to produce the remainder of discovery, including electronic information seized from devices and cloud accounts belonging to other individuals, on a rolling basis by the end of the year.”
Diddy’s legal team has urged prosecutors to remember that “the timely production of these materials is critical to Mr Combs’ ability to prepare his defense.”
They are requesting the court to mandate the government to promptly produce certain types of information, emphasizing the importance of discovery time.

During the court proceedings, the defense also asked for a gag order on the United States government, alleging that federal officials leaked information to the media during their investigation.
According to a court document, the defense claimed that “there has been a steady stream of false and prejudicial statements made by DHS agents to various press outlets over the last seven months.”
They argue that investigators shared information with the media that influenced public opinion about the rapper, thereby “tainting” the grand jury and potential trial jurors with bias.
The defense does not directly accuse the U.S. Attorneys but raises concerns about the Department of Homeland Security, which led the investigation, including a harsh raid on Diddy’s residences in Miami and Los Angeles.
However, the defense did express another concern with the attorneys, noting that they had informed the prosecutors about their suspicions regarding the DHS.
“Yet regardless of what, if any, action the U.S. Attorney’s Office took, the leaks continued even until after the arrest,” they wrote.
